Arms of Österreich

While my white coated Austrian collection has still much more expansion to do, you can see the latest artillery train to join these growing ranks at Murdock'S MarauderS.

Did Austrian artillery usually wear so much bling?
;^)

I dunno, this is a 'russian' or 'french' gun though since it is painted green.

Either way from table distance they look smart with the chains.

The 'shiny bling' comes from the flash photography I used to take this shot. In normal light they do not look so 'blinggy'.

Sorry, I saw the bit of yellow that's actually in the background and thought it was an Austrian piece.

And it's a good idea to use real jewellery chains--I was talking with a friend about that just yesterday, as a matter of fact (although for WW2 tank stowage). And someone at TMP suggested getting inexpensive Roman or Orthodox crucifixes for use as crosses on church steeples. All good ideas.

And seriously about the flash, yeah, I hate that too (especially when it bleaches out dark Prussian-coat blue into a lighter shade). Maybe one day I'll get a fancy photography light, but not right now.

Nice site, with interesting pictures and some fascinating links! I can't see my favourite bit of Austrian trivia, so here is the Imperial Motto:

"AEIOU" (Austriae est imperare orbi universo (t is Austria's destiny to rule the world)!
